Mural Concept Exploration
Having a space that induces the right creative spirit to make bold solutions is incredibly important to me. Our environment plays a big factor in ourmental health and how productive we can feel so I set out to explore a concept that would best be utilized as a mural or a print on my office wall.
I started by sourcing the colors that I frequently use in my wardrobe or in my decor that genuinely bring me joy. Using these in combination with certain structural elements that create interest, I went through a detailed process of adding and removing pieces and using trial and error until I created a composition that would compliment the intended space and usage.
I used this as an opportunity to experiment with different ways to visualize this as a print so I explored my interest in 3D illustration in tandem to produce these results.
To execute the mural, I color matched the paint to my hex codes the best I could and used certain objects to create the structural lines in the mural as a guide—along with intricate measurements as I didn't have a projector on hand. I was able to paint this in a matter of a few days with the right equipment and then sealed with polyurethane.
The outcome created a space that served as a productive workspace to me and a joy for others to look at in our office building.
