Inktober Illustration Series
With each passing year, a new opportunity emerges to engage in Inktober. Though I usually don't make it to the end, there was a quiet motivation to channel my creative energy into a unique take on the listed themes, simply for my own joy. Why not, you know?
On the direction:
There's something about incorporating hands in an illustration series that intrigues me. They bring a human touch, a softness to any design, perhaps rooted in my fine art upbringing. So, I decided to make hands the grounding theme.
Lately, I've found fascination in everyday objects that seem to have a second life on a shelf—things like a fried egg, a salt shaker, a potion bottle, and other peculiarities. Meeting the theme for each design, I followed a structured grid for consistency across variations. I set a rule to maintain no more than a finger's width of negative space (aligned with the hand dimensions in the illustrations) between elements. To tie tangible textures together, I used paper elements—basic supplies like staples, tape, and paper clips enhancing the visual texture.
There wasn't a need for a grandiose reason behind creating these pieces; it was all about personal enjoyment, for both myself and others. That's it.
